With a drum capacity of 7 kg in dry cloth, the Hotpoint WMF740A is ideal for a large and busy family, although it doesn't deliver as much efficiency, capacity or power as the Hotpoint WMD960A. 

This free-standing, fully-automatic, front-loading washing machine comes in the colour of white with a large, wide-opening porthole door to make loading and unloading easier.  It has a 1,400 rpm maximum spin speed, and when it comes to efficiency, it scores an A in both wash and energy and a B in spin efficiency.  B

eing cold fill only, the machine uses up less energy overall by heating the water itself, and this also reduces the risk of damaging delicate fabrics.  Because of its measurements, this machine can fit beneath the standard U.K. worktop, measuring 85 cm in height, 59.5 cm in width and 56.5 cm in depth.  It also comes with 16 different wash programmes, a child safety lock, anti-crease programme and an LCD screen.
