"Dixons is one of the UK’s best-known and trusted electrical retailing brands.
All products are delivered direct to the customer within 2-5 working days and some products come with free delivery as standard. Dixons’ buying teams have developed fantastic relationships with the leading brands including Sony, Toshiba, Samsung, Panasonic, Philips, Bosch, LG, Hoover, Hotpoint, Neff, Rangemaster, Canon, Zanussi, Packard Bell and Apple which means that they can offer customers market beating deals!"

Admittedly the prices advertised on the Dixons website is very competitive and this was the reason I ordered the Samsung LED TV from them. I have read both the positive and negative feedback displayed on this site and decided to risk ordering from them. BIG MISTAKE!!!! All the negative feedback you see on this page, I experienced with my order. When they are bad, they are extremely bad. You may risk it as well but personally I would not recommend it. I canceled my order and have looked elsewhere to purchase my TV. This experience has put me off dealing with Currys as well even if they had the TV in stock in the store.
I ordered a Samsung UE46B6000 TV on 26/12/09 got a delivery date of 29/12/09 so far so good, I then had a problem with my bank refusing payment as possible fraud, I sorted this out and contacted your customer service department to finalize payment, the money was taken from my account on the 28/12/09 and was told that the delivery date of the 29/12/09 was still ok.
That date came and went, I contacted your customer services again on the 30/12/09 and was told that there was a system error that showed as having stock when they had none. I was told head office would contact me. 3 hours later I got a call from a very apologetic lady who said she would have to cancel this order and put it back on the system as a manual order and that stock would be in on the 4/1/10 which I accepted.
At this stage I was ok with everything and more than happy with customer services with the help and the call back I received.
On the 4/01/10 I contacted customer services at 9am and was told they have no stock and I would have to wait until the 13/01/10, I told them this was a joke, the girl at customer services just kept saying she can’t help me any further as they have no stock, I ended the call at this point.
I called back later that day for a better explanation and spoke to another person at customer services, I was then told that stock did come in today 04/01/10 and that it had gone out to other people. I asked them why I wasn’t included in the stock today and she couldn’t tell me, I explained I called at 9am and got told something totally different. I asked for head office to call me back.
05/01/10 a lady from head office contacted me and explained that because of the system error showing the TV as being in stock they had a back log in excess of 300 units and 350 units are on order. I was assured my order has now been processed and I’m basically at the top of the list for when the TV comes into stock. I told her that I don’t really believe that I’m at the top of the list as it’s just basic sales talk to try and keep me, the customer happy, and the fact that my order has only now been processed is disgusting considering you took my money over a week ago.
At this point I have to accept that your customer services are not very good and each person you speak to will give you different accounts of what’s happening with your account.
Today 13/01/10 I contacted your customer service department to arrange delivery of my long awaited TV, but was told again this TV is out of stock and was told to call back on the 16/01/10 as the stock would be in on the 15/01/01, I again said I was not happy and that this is now the 4th time of letting me down I also said I would call on the 15/01/10 but I was advised that it takes 24 hours to book the TV’s into stock, at this point I had to laugh, as if it takes a company 24 hours to book 1 lot of items of stock in then you have very serious issues. the person on the end of the phone wasn’t really interested and then blamed it on the weather. That’s the 4th excuse now. I also said that it’s a good business If you have sold over 300 TV’s at £999.99 each and taken the money from each customer that’s a lot of money sat earning interest for your company. I was then told that there was only 75 people waiting with 150 on order. At this point I realised that I have to accept defeat and that part of the job requirement for customer services is to tell lies.
Called again on 15/01/10 and spoke to a guy called Craig for an update and was told that I now have to call back on the 21/01/10 as this is now when the stock will be coming in, and he told me there is now 348 customers waiting for this TV, I asked for a call back from head office and he said he will call me back, when I said I want head office to call me I was told by Craig that I wasn’t listening to him as he would call me back at 9am the following morning. Now I’m confused as I requested head office to contact me, but Craig said he will, are you sure I was the person not listening?
I have now taken this complaint up with my local trading standards.
Once again it looks like I have to phone you back at my expense and then there is no guarantee that the TV will be in stock, and I’m sure your customer service will be watching the news looking for their next excuse to give me.
Saved £120 by buying through the Dixons website…. Currys & Comet had the same Washer Dryer, but refused to match the fantastic Dixons price.
Selecting the Washer Dryer, paying for it and booking my preferred delivery date was really easy through the web site.
Haven’t needed to contact Customer Care, so can’t really comment, but the lengthy automated recording just to get the delivery time was a bit of a pain.
Was advised that it would be delivered between 7-11am… even with the snow, they delivered it today as advised. No fuss.
I know some people have had difficulties with their purchases, but i can’t fault Dixons… would / will use them again.
I ordered a LG 42SL9500 LED TV on christmas morning.
It was in stock & I was given various days for the following week for delivery.
Thursday was my day off so I booked it for then.
I was sent a text saying that I would receive a text the night before delivery saying which 4 hour window it would be delivered in.
I got the text & it arrived in the time I was told.
The delivery man carefully opened it for me so that I could check it before signing for it.
Super service.
HOTPOINT WDD960P Washer Dryer ordered 21 December, and a four hour time slot was advised of 7 – 11am for the requested delivery date of 24 December. The crew ‘phoned just before 7am on the due date and the item was delivered and fitted by 8am. PLUS delivery was FREE!
There was also a call from DIxons between order and delivery to confirm the date and a reminder of how to check the time slot allocated plus four e.mails keeping me fully advised every step of the way.
It would be difficult to better that experience.
Usual awful delivery service from Dixons. It’s a real shame that some of their promotional prices are so good, because then I wouldn’t have to deal with the company! I bought a large screen HD TV well before Christmas 2008 and it was touch and go whether it would arrive in time for Xmas. I was given a total of four promised delivery slots – always several days apart – and each was missed. I gave up trying to chase them on their (unmannned??) premium rate phone number. The TV eventually arrived a fortnight after the first delivery date. They say “there’s no fool like an old fool” and this old fool ordered a fridge from Dixons on 30/12/09 and was given a delivery date of 03/01/10. Impressed with the offer of a Sunday delivery, I waited patiently during my 13:45 to 17:45 delivery slot. Needless to say – not a dickie bird and no fridge. Sigh. Then at 19:00 I got a phone call out of the blue from a driver asking to double check directions! Brilliant! I took back everything bad I had ever said about Dixons……. until the phone rang again ten minutes later to say that he wasn’t coming after all and the next delivery would be in three days time. I am expecting it some time mid to late Jan – no point getting my hopes up. If you want to buy from Dixons then go ahead, but make sure you do so well in advance of when you actually want the item delivered.

Well …. Where do I start !! I will NEVER ever buy from these again !
Ordered a new LG TV £699.99 via Dixons online, selected the delivery date I required and paid.
Received a confirmation e-mail that the product would be delivered but they had changed the delivery date to a day later, ok not great but I could live with it.
Received a text the night before as promised to say my delivery slot would be between 10am – 2pm, great I thought, booked day off work, received a phone on the day at 12pm from the driver to say my new tv would not be delivered as it had been damaged in the lorry (which I did feel was a bit strange, considering how well these products are packaged up now and how it could of been damaged I was unsure !).
Obviously disappointed but the driver did offer to re-arrange delivery with me now, I asked when could the next delivery date be he said tomorrow (which was New Years Day) I said I was surprised they was working that day but he said yes they were, we get paid extra, so I agreed to the arranged date (foolishly now) waited in till 12pm and thought I would give the delivery team a call just to see if they had an idea when it would be coming, spoke to an unhelpful female who just said dont know why he arranged a delivery with you for today as there are NO deliveries today !
Obviously very angry at this point, I had been totally lied to ! She said she would get the Depot Manager to call me back within the hour, 2 hours went by and guess what no phone call ! I rang the delivery team again, spoke to a guy this time who said dont know what has happened, there is no deliveries today and I dont know why the female you spoke to, said a Depot Manager would call as there are no managers working today ! Lied to again. He checked the stock and there was plenty and said he could only presume my tv would be out for delivery on Saturday 2nd January (as that was the next working day for deliveries). He said he had sent an e-mail to the Depot Manager to give me a call first thing on Saturday if I did not receive a call by 9am to call the delivery team again, guess what no phone call ! I rang the delivery team again the guy I had spoken to yesterday was not working today, spoke to another guy who said dont know why you was told the depot manager would call we dont do that sort of thing (lies again) you tv is not out for delivery today and to top the lot he then told me that he did not know when my tv would be delivered as there was no stock and a waiting list of 225 people for the tv I wanted !
Obviously fuming at this point, could not believe the blatant lies I had been told !!! I said I wanted to cancel my order and a full refund he said it would take 7 days to go back into my account even though when they take the money it instantly comes out of your account.
Absolutely disgusted in the way I was treated, will tell all friends and family not to use them, there products may be cheaper than most places but so is the service very cheap !!!
Sorry to go on, on this one, but to be honest cannot believe what has happened !
As Sharon mentioned, I took made an order for this TV to Dixons on 26/12/09 and this has never arrived. I have got a confirmation e-mail with a delivery date of 30/10/09 at any time. As I rang to confirm the time the advisor told there is a problem with the delivery depot and the Head Office is going to contact me. I send two e-mails chaising it up and there was no response. There after on 2/1/10 I managed to speak to some one on the customer service and he advised me I could expect a delivery on 3rd or 4th. This too never arrived and later on I got a mail advising the product is out of stock and I may be contacted about it by their Head office.
When I chekced the credit card account, the monies seems to be put back without advising any thing about the order cancellation.
It’s great shame company like Dixons behaves in such an unprofessional way, and lies to people to carryon their business.
I had similar problems so have used Amazon for the last couple of years and they know how to treat their customers when it goes wrong as it must always do occasionally!
ABSOLUTLY SHIT SERVICE!!!! I BOUGHT TV FOR Ł999,99 THEY CHANGED THE PRICE TO Ł1,099,99 AND CANCELED ORDER.
WHEN I PHONED THEY SAID THAT I PUT WRONG CARD DETAILS WHAT WAS NOT TRUE!!!!
NOT RECOMENDET!!!!! NEVER AGAIN DIXONS
Ordered LG47SL9500 TV..Cheapest on the market. Smooth transaction and delivery. No complaint and happy with TV. If you want it you get it!! None of this price comparaisin rubbish about scheming the buyer into a purchase. it was the cheapest and sexiest TV on the market and I love it. Wish I’d bought 2 .
Thank goodness for the decent folk who actually take the time to comment on sites like this. Completely changed my mind from ordering a plasma tv from these guys. Probably one of the least recommended companies i have come across via the reviews, shame as the product in question was very competitively priced, but was this just to entice me to part with money initally for my required tv and then for another one later at a higher price – luckily will never need to find out.
thanks
Taz.
I ordered a Samsung TV to be delivered on Saturday, they apparently went to the wrong house and didn’t even bother to call to say they were lost, at 5pm when it still hadn’t come I called and told the order was canceled because my address didn’t exist. I then proceeded to make approx 12 phone calls over the next few days and no one could help me as to where the TV was or when it could be delivered. They kept saying someone would call me back but no one ever did. It ended up someone on the phone took it apon themselves to cancel the order without telling us.
I would NEVER purchase anything from Dixons again – Incompetent Bastards!
Brilliant!
Ordered 40″ Samsung UE40B7000 LED TV and Sound System on Sunday. Got a phone call on monday confirming the order, then i got an email on Tuesday saying what day it will be delivered. Delivered Wednesday and enjoying it that night. I would use them again
I purchased a TV that was £100 cheaper than the shops. It turned up in good time and it was in one piece. Still works one year later. Part of the DSG Group (Link, PC World, Currys) so if you are going to use an online shop I think it is better to use one that may make some effiort rather than none. Sounds like thye have better reviews than Pixmania anyway. They sound very bad.
Wish I had read the other reviews before I placed an order with Dixons!!!! Pretty much the same story as before. Ordered a dishwasher for delivery within 7-10 days, telephoned after two weeks as no delivery and no contact from Dixons. Informed that the dishwasher was out of stock and they had no further information for me. Told head office would be in contact with Hotpoint daily, I asked if he could contact head office to get update, told no call back in another couple of days!!! I emailed the complaints dept asking for further information – no reply received. Have just cancelled the order and have to wait 2-3 days for money to be returned !!!!!
I had planned to order a tumble dryer from Dixons but thanksfully checked the reviews first, after reading them have decided not to buy from them. Thanks to those who take the trouble of placing their opions it saves other potential customers having the same problems.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY – I wouldn’t use CURRYS or PCWORLD either as they are the same company.
Washing machine delivered faulty. After 8 visits and lots of hassle and costs to us, they took it away. See my letter to them below…
You certainly know how to add insult to injury, time after time after time.
When I buy goods and there is something wrong, I expect the seller to put it right. I also expect everyone in the selling company to be embarrassed that their company has sold something that didn’t work. In my business experience successful companies behave like this.
How dare you? How dare you put “Product Unwanted : Unopened” on the Refund slip? The washing machine I bought was wanted, that’s why I bought it. This product was opened because I was looking forward to using it. The reason you gave me a refund was that the product did not work properly and I complained, your people couldn’t repair it and I complained, your people couldn’t repair it and I complained, your people couldn’t repair it and I complained, your people couldn’t repair it and I complained, your people couldn’t repair it and I complained, your people couldn’t repair it and I complained, your people couldn’t repair it and I complained, your people couldn’t repair it and I complained, and eventually your people called and took it away.
How dare you? How dare you apologise with the words “any convenience this matter may have caused”? “May” have caused? You know we had to miss work and other engagements to be at home on several occasions. You know we had no washing machine for several months. You know this cost us additional time and money. “May” have caused?
How dare you? How dare you refund less than I paid in the first place? You know exactly how much I paid, yet you refunded a considerable amount less!
How dare you? How dare you offer me a phone number for which I have to pay to call you? How dare you send me a letter from a squiggle and not a person? How dare you not take responsibility, not offer a reasonable apology.
I note that DSG recently made a £61M half-year loss and cancelled a dividend, and that was before the credit-crunch. I wonder if this is connected to your sales culture.
If you ever expect me to buy anything from DSG or Whirlpool (and I have spent £1000s over the last few years with your companies), you’d better have some answers.
Yours Sincerely
Mike …
Mike This seems to be the norm from some (not all) Companies that are trading online, I personally have had a similar experience with Debenhams to name but one, after purchasing an Oven that they advertised which they never had in stock, and then ended up (as you did having to wait up to a month for an answer having chased them), and then another 10 days to get my money back, that they had been in receipt of for over a month. In their defence they did send me some vouchers (again these did not nowehere near cover the loss and inconvenience incurred). At present I have ordered 3 fridge freezers from 3 different named (some v well known Companies) and this was 2 months ago, because they all advertise the item, then inform that they have to go back to the producer before they can provide, surely this is false advertising, yet all were content to keep the money for up to 2 weeks each before confirming a much later delivery date, if a date was given at all. In my view they are all a bunch of crooks, and need some form of Auhtority or Ombudsman to make them become more complient.
The best price I found, in stock and fast delivery within about 3 days. Would definitely buy with Dixons again.
Ordered a Laptop, Product came in good time, not damaged and in perfect working order, would reccommend
these guys made the thunderbirds look human.!!! Shocking service…never again.
Shocking service… never Again.!!!
Complete bunch of muppets.. even made the thunder birds seem human. promised a washing machine next day..booked the day off work only to be told the delivery van has broken down..
“no probs,” i said… “when will it come?”
” I will make sure its with you tomorrow..”
Second day off work..only to be told the washing machine won’t be delivered tell 6pm after the delivery slot of 8am-12pm was given… day 2 waisted!!!
6pm comes.. no washing machine.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
Washing machine delivered faulty. Once year later, still no resolution. No refund is offered, only repair by a 3rd party. Dixons wash hands of any responsibility and even give incorrect phone numbers (connects straight to 3rd party) when you try to talk to call them about the Sale Of Goods Act.
A TOTAL DISGRACE
We ordered a Bosch Fridge Freezer as Dixons was the cheapest website. We ordered the item and they debited our account the same day – with a delivery date of 28 days later. Surprise Surprise in about 28 days time still having paid for it a month earlier we were left a message to say the Freezer was ‘end of line’ and no more stock availiable to order in. But they could order us something else. I phoned straight back to cancel the order and requested an immediate refund – which they confimed would be made in 2/3 days. A week later – my credit card bill arrived and no refund!! Very annoyed at this point I phoned Dxons and this time was told that my name was not on the order and therefore could not give me any details. (I ordered it in my partners name – but my credit card and my email address). Only a week ago they took the details off me then for the refund! I had to get my partner to call again (third time) and eventually the refund came through. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY – PARTICULARLY IF ITEMS ARE NOT IN STOCK – THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY & CANCEL A MONTH LATER.
Ordered a new Samsung tv, sound system & blue ray player – it was a piece of cake to do – ordered Saturday :came Tuesday. Delivery emails all fab, guy phoned me 2 hours before dropping off to check address & location. I couldn’t recommend them highly enough – & I didn’t need to step out of my door!
I ordered a dishwasher on the 20th March and it said delivery would be within 14 days. About a week after ordering, I received an e-mail saying it has been delayed to the 12th April. Nothing had arrived by the 12th April and then I receied another e-mail saying it had been delayed to the 27th April. I have now cancelled the order as I’m not confident I’m going to receive it at all. When I phoned to cancel the order, I was also told that it will take 7 days for my money to be refunded.
I will never use Dixons again as I think this is totally unacceptable.
not recommended by me ,I ordered a dishwasher which was promised to be delivered within 10 days, when this time was up I received an e-mail with a revised date on it of another 7 days, on phoning customer service she couldnt even promise this date would be adhered to. I ordered from Dixons because their website said delivery in 3 days. The £239 has been taken from my bank account on the day of the order but now I have cancelled it will take 7 working days for the money to be refunded. This is the first on-line retailer that has let me down and I certainly will not be returning to them. shoppers beware.
I ordered a sony home cinema system, but which did not come upto my expectations.. I contacted dixons and was offered an immediate replacement, but i chose a lg ht321dh which was duly delivered the next day (10 minutes early) . this turned out to be the ideal choice to compliment my new lg tv the perfect combination.
i would not hestiate to use dixons in future as i recieved better service from them than from their partner stores.
Good purchasing experience. Ordered on Monday and delivered as arranged on Friday. The day before , Dixons called me as a reminder of the delivery next day. On day of delivery, driver called to give me an hours notice though in the end it was about 2 hrs later before my dishwasher was delivered. All in all everything went smoothly.
I will never order anything from Dixon’s again and i will tell all my friends and family to do the same. I ordered A Sony LCD TV but i received email saying they were out of stock and i could order different TV at a higher price. so i checked if they were out of stock but they were not they just wanted me to pay more for another TV. I tried in vain to get them to send the Tv i had ordered but they would not and eventually they just ignored my emails. I would strongly advise do not ordered anything from these crooks and then maybe with consumer power we can close crooked stores like these down.
Ordered a laptop which Dixons were the best price on. It was delivered 2 days later and has been excellent. Would use them again, no problems.
